So Just How Important Are Vision Gifts For This Tantalizing Three?

Pretty important as you prepare her for kindergarten...but that's two years away. Yes, but you'll be surprised at how fast that time will go.

All those gifts you selected (and encouraged grandparents, aunts, and uncles to select)increased visual skills. So did the games you and he played. You’re amazed at how much he does. Wow!

Now she uses his vision to copy or trace simple shapes. He can color...maybe not completely within the lines, but close.

He picks out more details in pictures and on objects. He may even be able to identify one that’s partially hidden. Those hidden pictures you’ve seen in books? Highlights Magazine now has one geared toward this age. This truly enriches the development of visual discrimination.

Toys and games that you can suggest as gifts to add to this skill are…

Books…first on the list again! Ask her about the pictures...What color is..? Where is...?
Pattern Blocks and Boards encourage him to imitate the pattern. His vision directs the accomplishment of this task.

Crayons...and paper. You know all that paper that has printing on just one side? Save it in a special place for her, and she’ll delight to make a picture just for you.

Coloring books…make the lines simple and bold. She doesn’t need a lot of details.

Printables from the computer…again look for pictures with few details. You only need to type in "free printables" in the search box to locate scads of them.

Paints…there are even some that you can use in the tub! That should make him want to take a bath now? Use washable tempera for regular painting and he’ll enjoy creating a picture for your refrigerator...or on it!

Form Puzzles…he can put together more than three pieces, and they don’t need to just be geometric shapes.

Chalk Board/Magnetic Board for drawing and scribbling or playing with magnetic alphabet letters and numbers. Just think…next year will be his last year at home before he starts Kindergarten…Will he be ready?

Will you be ready?

Let’s see how his vision has progressed now that he’s a Fabulous Four...
