What Are Appropriate Gross Motor Gifts For The…

Toddler?

Before we answer that, we probably ought to check out his gross motor development.

Wow! He walks independently…very independently, even pulling his hand out of yours. He begins to creep up the stairs…you’ll need that gate now!

She can kneel, stoop and squat. She learns to walk in circles and will enjoy playing circle games like Ring-a-Round a Rosie.

He was creeping up the stairs earlier, but as he nears two he’ll walk up them but without alternating his steps.

Woah! Get the gate!

She enjoys ride-on toys, and may even try to propel herself along.

Before he turns two he may even start to run. Now you’ll really have to watch this mobile tyke…and keep an ample supply of bandaids and first aid cream!

He can roll a ball and even attempts to throw and catch a large one, overhanded, with both hands. Use a small beach ball...

or check out this nifty Yakle Ball...sooo much easier for a toddler to catch.

What more will those big muscles learn to do when she’s a terrific two…
